Sig and Jack’s Kitchen: Pantry Perfect

Sig and Jack’s new pantry space is clearly more reflective of the period of their house. Since there was no original or historically significant building fabric left, the new pantry was designed to contain all the modern amenities, but reflect the period of the home. The dishwasher, appliance garage, and microwave are all readily available, and yet cleverly concealed from sight. This image shows the pantry looking from the dining room into the kitchen area.

The dishwasher is completely concealed, but very conveniently located near the sink and by the door to the dining room.

A breadboard was included under the appliance garage, providing a place to land things taken out of the microwave. Because there were no toe kicks used during the period of the house, the counter and upper drawers were extended forward. This provided more counter space and an area for toes when working close to the counters without compromising the historic design.
